The 1998 season
A second 1998 league, dealt differently. Expansion had just added two clubs, offense was everywhere, and these ten teams split the season’s talent their own way.
The summer of the home run chase: Mark McGwire hit 70 and Sammy Sosa 66, both passing Roger Maris’ 61. Expansion added two clubs that year, and offense was high across both leagues.
Player ratings come from Retrosheet play-by-play. Clubs are shown by the game’s own team names; see credits.
