The 2016 season
The 2016 season, from a game that was getting faster and harder to hit: fastball velocity and strikeout rates both climbing year on year. Real 2016 players, rated from that season’s play-by-play.
In 2016 pitchers threw harder and struck out more hitters than in any earlier season, while home runs began a sharp climb. It was a season of power arms and all-or-nothing swings, and every player here is rated from what he actually did that year.
Player ratings come from Retrosheet play-by-play. Clubs are shown by the game’s own team names; see credits.
